It was a Tuesday, July 18th, 2017… exactly 4 years ago.
It was my wife and my 2nd wedding anniversary.
That week I was really busy at work, so I convinced my wife that we should just celebrate “later”…
- Instead of taking her out, I worked 12 hours that day.
- Instead of coming home with flowers, I came home exhausted.
- Instead of making a special dinner, from memory we ate leftovers on the couch while watching tv.
I. am. an. idiot.

Luckily, since then I’ve reset my priorities. My wife comes in #1, all the time – every time. We celebrate everything, big and small. And we’ve got 100 more wedding anniversaries to celebrate together – the right way!
The reason I share all these I am an idiot stories, is so that I can reflect on my mistakes, and hopefully help others out there not repeat the same dumb stuff I did.
If you have an anniversary, do yourself a favor and make a big deal of it. Work can wait.
